Hi world.
My daughter is now 20 months old (a little over a year and a half). She is a delight. She picks up the phone and says "Hewwo" and "Bye-bye". She squals with delight when we chase her and begs for more when we tickle her. She says "Moy" for more and people often think she's saying "mine" but thankfully she hasn't learned that word yet. She's a great eater and a great sleeper as long as she's in bed with us. She's also very good at adapting to new routines, so as soon as we have enough money to buy the all natural latex foam rubber mattress that I want for her, she'll be sleeping in her own bed (well, mattress on the floor so I don't have to worry about her rolling off).
I started work again as a nanny when she was 1 month old and I take her with me. I used to watch three girls but now I just have one and my own. This year will be my fifth year with the same family. I really like them and am very glad they are not moving as they had planned to (my other family moved out of the country).
This would be my summer vacation but it really just a series of obligations (many of which are fun, but all of which are time consuming). I've been to NY and Chicago and am going to Wisconsin this week. The Chicago trip was my first time travelling with the baby and no one else, and it was a lot of wrok to drag around all of her stuff. I bought a cheapo car seat to throw in the rental car, but also had to schlep it through the airport both ways.
I think having a baby makes you think a lot about your values and whatnot, but I seem to have always had this introspective review process, so little has changed. I try to be a good mom and wife. I am a lousy housekeeper, and I tend not to mind my clutter in the way I feel I'm supposed to. I really like my friends even though I often wonder why they put up with me. I battle against my bab habits every day (like interrupting people while they're talking).
I really like haveing a small person in the house. I hope to have another one. I know the second can't be as easy as the first but it will be so fun the second time around because I will be so much less nervous.
For my husband's birthday I told him I'd get rid of 31 things from the house (he turned 31), and I've only done a few, so next time I have a spare minute, I'm going to make a webpage about it and then you can bug me to do more.
I missed you, anonymous readers...
